Drawing the eye to the ceiling helps to make the room feel taller and spacious. The width of the bed accentuates your problem, which is a good thing. Instead of making the room feel smaller and Claustrophobic, it gives it a feeling of warmth. Almost like being wrapped in a cozy blanket. Typhanie’s Tips and Tricks: Remember to keep it light. I do believe you can use dark colors in a small space but in this case I would keep the walls and bed color light. If you want to bring in a darker hue I suggest using it in the accessories, such as artwork and lighting.
