Is Small The New Big?

That is the question House Beautiful is asking in their 2010 July/August issue. I don't know if small is the new big but I do know that interior designer David Kaihoi did an amazing job designing his 390 sqft East Village home...Yup I said 390 sqft. David lives there with his wife Monique and their daughter. That's three people living in a tiny home. I don't know how they do it but the place looks so magnificent I would live there with six people. As long as I get all the closet space...Happy Decorating Everyone!

Ohhh I LOVED this apartment, but dang those people are tough to live in SUCH a small space with a kid! Love that they have a high chair hip enough for the cover of HB! Hope you are well, Tiffany!

Dear Typhanie:

1. First time I post here. I've spent many a happy hour perusing this blog and I want to thank you.

2. I saw the apartment in Elle Decor as well as here. It is beautiful, but oh-my-goodness. They have a kid. I live in NYC in 600sf with a husband, and we're on top of each other. I can't imagine adding a kid to that.

3. Our small: one thing we did, which is helping tremendously, is that we eked out a dining room that is separate from the living room. It provides us with another whole area for hanging out, and also allows us to be apart in two different rooms. The bedroom is shared, of course, but at least now each of us feels that we have our own room: the hubs in the living room and I in the dining room.

4. Back to the people with the beautiful but teensy apartment that they share with a kid. Holy clams! I can't imagine it. That apartment is barely big enough for one person.

Thanks a bunch for your blog!

Terry
